After getting a master's degree in journalism, she made her debutwith Dainik Bhaskar – the country’s top Hindi newspaper. She had developed interests in covering issues related to women early on and extensively reported about their problems and achievements.
She covered the Woman Beat for the newspaper. ‘Woman Bhaskar’– a segment edition ofDainik Bhaskar for women - was headed by Mona Sharma. During her time, Dainik Bhaskar for Women received the Best Newspaper Award in Asia Pacific.

She was awarded for doing remarkable work in the field of women empowerment. SDM of the area, Mr. Kailash Sharma awarded citation and trophy to Mona Sharma. Thanagaji BDO Mrs. Jyoti Prajapati, Principal Mrs. Lalitha Devi, Sarpanch Mrs. Santosh Sharma and many dignitaries of the area were present on the occasion.

Sanitary napkin bank was established on 26 March 2019 by Vasudha Jan Vikas Sansthan to make girls and women aware of menstrual health and hygiene in Thanagaji and provide them sanitary pads free of cost. Hundreds of women from the self-help groups .
